Call Forward Always on the Mitel IP Phone

Call forwarding is a useful feature of the Mitel IP phone. It allows you to re-direct incoming calls when you are busy and do not want to be disturbed.

There are two types of call forwarding on the Mitel IP phone:

  1. Call forward always: This type of call forwarding simply forwards all incoming calls to a designated phone number
  2. Call forwarding using a profile: Call forwarding profiles allow you create different profiles which will forward incoming calls based on different circumstances.

In this article, we will describe how to use the call forward always feature on your Mitel IP phone. Call forwarding profiles are covered in the next blog in the series.

About call forward always

The call forward always feature intercepts all incoming calls to your number before your phone rings. Every incoming call is then automatically redirected to a phone number of your choice.

When activated, this type of call forwarding will take precedence over any call forwarding profiles which you have already activated on your phone.

How to program and enable call forward always

The call forward always feature can be programmed and activated at any time. To do this, take the following steps:

  1. Press the Forwarding feature key. (Alternatively, press the Menu key to launch the applications menu and navigate to call forwarding)
  2. Enter the number you want your incoming calls to forward to. (If a number is already available, it can be used again or changed)
  3. Press Activate.

The call forward always feature will now be active on your phone and will remain active until you deactivate it.

How to deactivate call forward always

When you are ready to start receiving incoming calls again, the feature can be deactivated. To do this, take the following steps:

  1. Press the Forwarding feature key. (Alternatively, press the Menu key to launch the applications menu and navigate to call forwarding)
  2. Press Deactivate

This will deactivate the call forward always feature and should allow you to start receiving calls again.

However, if a call forward profile was active before you activated the call forward always feature, the profile could still be active on your phone. You may need to deactivate the call forward profile as well, depending on how the profile has been set up.
